I have owned and loved
vizslas since 1993. My first beloved, Zoe, was all I needed to be completely addicted. She was and will
always be my eternal soul mate. After she was gone, I was very lucky enough to have in my life, but for far
too short a time, my precious little angel, Ardee. She had so much promise and I still miss her terribly.
Now I am very lucky to have in my life my three little girls who fill me up and keep
me on my toes! Whether
pets or pros, my girls shine
and teach me everyday what it means to be a versatile pointing dog. Each girl showed great aptitude in
the field at a very young age, all are trained - with the help of training buddies - and handled by me (for better or
worse). Often humbled by their smarts and my great need for learning the ropes, Raisin, Kenzee and Alex prove
over and over that they are contenders.
I strongly urge anyone considering adding a vizsla to their family
to learn as much about this breed as possible before locking into a decision. Speak to and visit vizsla owners and breeders!
Vizslas are fantastic dogs, but they are not suited for everyone. They are natural hunters and as such have
special needs that may require some changes in your lifestyle and routine. They require daily off-lead exercise
and mental stimulation, so be prepared to provide this to them. If you give vizslas what they require, they will
reward you with a lifetime of love, friendship and devotion.
If considering adding a vizsla to your family, I encourage
you to first get acquainted with your local vizsla club and get familiar with the breed. There are also AKC
events where you can see vizslas first-hand.
